Welcome to the Internet home of Rock-ACT, an over-the-hill cover band from Norfolk and Virginia Beach, VA that almost transformed perfectly good professional music into amateurish yet highly entertaining performances for the locals.
Most of the musicians in Rock-ACT met through work or had been together in other cover bands before. Yes this means they had paying day-jobs that they weren't likely to give up to pursue any musical aspirations. Being an over-the-garage band is all they'll ever be and that is just fine with them. You can read more about the members of this eclectic group below.
Rock-ACT primarily played Pop, Funk and Rock & Roll music and you can find the songs they inspired to play below. Unfortunately, the band never got off the ground and the musical journey ended before it started. This page is left here as a historical reminder of what could have been.
Grew up in the Netherlands and has been playing the drums since the mid 70’s. Favorite drummers include Tico Torres (Bon Jovi), Cesar Zuiderwijk (Golden Earring), John Bonham (Led Zeppelin) and Steve Gadd (Paul Simon and Eric Clapton). Unfortunately, none of these influences helped his sloppy drumming but he is tolerated in RockACT because he owns all the equipment. Johan married Nicole (see below) for her good looks and great voice (see journey section on how they hooked up). He also played in Hippo, Mid-Life Crisis (MLC) (a well deserved name) and Cujo Panic. Also grew up in the Netherlands and has been singing with her family, in bands and in the shower since the early 70’s. Nicole’s musical career was ignited by her mom’s opera talent, her brother’s guitar playing, her sister’s singing and believe it or not, The Rolling Stones. Nicole is married to Johan (not for his stunning good looks but simply for his money) and they have two children. Her other interests include bowling, painting and shopping (which is where the money comes in handy). Nicole also sang in Hippo, Mid-Life Crisis (MLC) and Cujo Panic.
